Anxiety Management

Anxiety is the most common mental health concern in our society today. Anxiety is described as a feeling of worry, nervousness or unease about something with an uncertain outcome. Anxiety typically has a “trigger” or something that will cause the anxiety to peak. Counselling will help assist you in finding your triggers and working to manage your anxious behavior.

Common reasons for seeking help with anxiety management:

  • Worry or fear stops you from living life
  • Panic attacks
  • General concern for life

Navigating Depression

Depression can stop you from enjoying the moments of your life. Typically, those that are depressed sleep often, have a low mood, lack motivation and no longer enjoy the things they used too. Counselling can help you counter the negative thoughts and learn to find joy in your life again.

Common reasons for seeking help with navigating depression:

  • You feel that you just don’t want to be here anymore

  • You wonder if there is more to life

  • You want to enjoy things again

Dealing with Family Conflict

Conflict in any form can be challenging. It becomes even more complex when those closest to you, family, are directly involved. Counselling can be a place to explore the conflict, find a resolution and create a plan for conflict to look differently in the home.

Common reasons for seeking help with family conflict:

  • The family relationships are not healthy

  • Lack of communication

  • Shifting family dynamics

  • Creating boundaries

Stress & Life Challenges

Stress is defined as experiences or events that produce severe strain. Counselling is recommended to any individual who is experiencing major life changes such as – moving, job change, additions to the family, loss, starting/stopping school, marriage or divorce.

Common reasons for seeking help with family conflict:

  •  Life transition or Change

  • Work/Family stress

  • Future planning

Is Counselling Right For Me?

Short answer is “Yes,” at some point. Every person can greatly benefit from it at some time, or multiple times in life. It is recommended that you seek out counselling if you experience more than one life transition within a month’s time. Some life transitions may include – moving, job change, additions to the family, loss, starting/stopping school, marriage or divorce.

Is counselling right for my child?

Children experience stress differently than adults. The way in which they process and integrate stress will manifest differently. Children may become withdrawn, irritable, anti-social, disobedient, sad or anxious. If your child is exhibiting behaviors that are a-typical, counselling may be a good fit.

What is your experience?

I have over 10 years of counselling experience with children, teens and their families. I specialize in working with those who struggle with anxiety, mental health challenges, anger and other stressors that stop you from fully living your life.

Why counselling?

Counselling offers a neutral place to express some of life’s most challenging experiences and emotions. It allows you to fully process all the things that life gives you.

How does counselling work for children?

The counselling process looks different depending on the age of the child. A variety of play, art and conversation is used to help children and teens process their life events.
